just let it run some 10 minutes, unloaded.
You should messure the current taken from the batteries. Isn't there an external power input? If the Ampere doesn't get lower after a while then the 20 years laying about cannot be shed off.
Also check the Ampere with a cartridge in. See what happens ...

Re: Canon 1014 W/ Sluggish Motor
Yes, there are six AA batteries. I think they are all for the main power bus for the camera.

Re: Canon 1014 W/ Sluggish Motor
Yes, I just ran another roll (OLD expired film) and it did the same thing. It ran longer this time than it did the first time. It seems like the oil in the gears has just gotten so stiff that the motor is bogging down when I put film in it. I live near LA, and there are a couple of places that can ...

How does Super 8 Jam in a Camera?
I am curious as to why super 8mm film would jam in the cartridge, I have a new to me Canon 1014 that bogs down and eventually jams after a few feet of film. If I release the trigger and start again, everything is fine for a few more feet. Then it does the same thing all over again. I am not sure if ...

Re: Canon 1014 W/ Sluggish Motor
Just a follow up. I held the piece that turns the spool in the film cartridge. I can tell it has a clutch in it, and it seems to be working properly. If I hold the clutch for as long as it took for the motor to slowly bog down, nothing happens. It sounds like it is working just fine, so I can't ...

Canon 1014 W/ Sluggish Motor
I just purchased a MINT 1014. Everything works fine with no film, but with a film cartridge the motor bogs down after about 20s of running. Any advice? Seems to me maybe the grease is old and needs a re-lube. What do you guys think?
