At this time Kodak only stocks one variety Regular 8 film, i.e. E100D (2R-1497). Have checked the other manufacturers? Wittner has currently five, i.e. http://www.wittner-kinotechnik.de/katalog/04_filmm/d8_filmm.php

Maybe not for a professional shoot, but it's fine for hobbyist use. Black and white film takes a while to go bad.

Stocking up on film is one thing, but if the use of reversal film dwindles, will processing labs remain in business and will chemicals for processing still be manufactured?

The nice thing about E-6 chems (as opposed to, say, K-14) is that the formula is not proprietary, so any chemical company ...

There's BPS Film Lab in Batavia, IL. They don't have a website, and are kind of slow with E-6, but their B&W reversal is second to none.

Kodak 100D is notched correctly. Wittner 100D was/is notched as 64D/100T, which swung the filter out when the Tungsten key was inserted.

You can buy R8 film direct from Kodak, but the minimum order quantity is a little more than 400'. For E100D, the minimum purchase is 20 400' rolls, at a cost of $141.92 each. For Tri-X reversal, the minimum purchase is 5 400' rolls, at a cost of $86.69 each. Both of these are "finish-to-order" and ...

Yes it is a little more expensive, but whoever shoots Super 8 or Regular 8 because it's cheap? What is it, maybe $10 more for a couple cartridges every few months? Sounds like a deal to me. If you shoot more you'd get a savings in postage probably.
