Film stock in Australia

Hello everyone

Does anyone know where to get 16mm colour negative film in Australia? The Sound and Vision website has been shut down, and I don't know where else to turn. Short ends would be particularly great.

Many thanks :P

Battery belts compatible with Tobin TTL motor in Australia??

Hello everyone

I've just bought a TTL animation/timelapse motor from Tobin for my Bolex (Rx 5). However, Tobin can't sell me a battery belt as they are not allowed to ship batteries anymore in the US.

Where can I get a compatible battery belt in Australia?

Many thanks in advance

Tobin motor power supply in Australia

Hello everyone

I'm looking to buy a Tobin animation motor, to shoot a 16mm project on.
But I am confused about power supply.
It says the XLR lead connects to any 12V DC power supply.
Where in Australia will I find a compatible power source?

Many thanks

Well I've just dropped out of my film course, because I couldn't come up with a decent script to shoot. I didn't want to just shoot other student's films, either, because they are all using video (and I wanted to shoot on 16mm)...

I might go back when I've got a few decent scripts....

Hi Dan

I ordered a copy recently, and have watched it. I thought it was really good, particularly the visuals; your way of shooting super 8 is really inspiring. Great to hear that others around the world are appreciating that approach to documentary, and aesthetic, as it's something I'd like to get ...

Question for Nanolab:

Do you process PlusX, as well as Trix and 64T? Also, what about Velvia 50D or Wittnerchrome 100D? Would they all be $18 a roll?

Just looking for somewhere to process these obscure international films, and save on all the shipping

Nizo 2056 vs 6080

Hello everyone

Which camera is quieter, the 2056 or the 6080?
And can both of them auto expose 64T, Velvia 50D, and the vision stocks?

Thanks

Um.

GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) affects me.

I have owned a beautiful Bolex H15 Rx5 since November last year. Have I shot anything but a couple of measly test reels on it, though?

No.

Sometimes owning a camera extinguishes the desire to use it.
And much salivating over cameras ensues ...

Measuring night time exposure for 16mm Bolex?

Hello everyone

I have a Bolex Rex 5 loaded up with some 500T, to shoot a test with. I am going to shoot at night, and capture all the neon lights, car lights, reflections in water, etc.

However, I only have a reflected/ incident light meter, not a spot meter. Given that there's such a huge ...

Thanks everyone.

The cinematographer's not the teacher, but an industry professional, who's kindly been helping us with the logistics of shooting with this very expensive medium, for half of the first day. There's a second year student who's written, directed and is DOPing this shoot - I'm just a ...

Is film archaic / about to die soon?

Hello everyone,

I've been camera assisting on a Super 16 student shoot lately. A professional cinematographer (who's been supervising us) said that digital is the future, and that young people like us should be learning digital, and not film. That film was archaic and had no future.

Do you agree ...
