It's not so hard.... Results are excellent!!!

Make a trascription of captured video using VirtualDub with Deflicker filter. It works great. Use manual exposure. If you use Steadshot turn it off. Adjust contrast, brightness and gama correction using your video editor filters.

Look at http://www.virtualdub.org
It's a free software that let you correct flickering, hotspot, etc. Those are additional filters that you must install apart. It's a must to have software for video editing.

My experience so far is:
- Projector Bell&Howell 3 blade shutter, no speed adjustment (~18fps, not accurate at all)
- Camcorder: Sony Digital8
- Manual exposure and focus
- Steadshot off
- Wall projection into A4 paper (~20x25cm screen)
- Video processing with VirtualDub antiflicker, hotspot ...

I own a B&H focusmatic (model 442) that I haven't used since 30 years. It's not the same as you posted but it has the same focusmatic mechanism. I posted its pictures same time ago:

Petteri, I like to use an easier video editor as VideoStudio from Ulead. I've tried to open an avisynth script file as a video input file and VideoStudio didn't understand it (I don't know if I should do something that I didn't). The install program of Avisynth associated .avs files to Avisynth but ...

Petteri, I found myself the answer: instead of using AVIFileSource("myclip.avi") I must use DirectShowSource("myclip.avi"). Both types (DV-1 and DV-2) were opened. Great! Now I save one rendering phase using VirtualDub filters direct into DV captured files. Thank you for your advise :D:

Avisynth

Hi Petteri,

I'm trying to use Avisynth and using DV-1 I receive the error message:
Avisynth open failure. Unrecognized exception! .
Using DV-2 I receive the error message:
Avisynth open failure. Avisource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc dvsd .
I'm using DV files generated by Ulead, and ...

I've tried both DV-type1 and DV-type2 and both types of files are not opened by VirtualDub. I think that is because VirtualDub deals with VFW file types and DV is not.

I agree with all of you people that a good movie projection is much better then a video projection. A good movie projection is much better then a LCD or DLP projection. But today you can buy a excellent LCD projector for less then US$ 2000. By the other side, what is the projection quality that we ...

But my point is, even if you install a 250-300W lamp would you achieve a better projection then a video projector (a middle range one, for instance)? Do you thing that those projectors (with 250-230W lamps) are good enough for an audience? I've never saw one but I doubt. I've never seen good ...

 I apologize for my stupid question, but why use a adapted movie projector instead of a video projector? It's not easier to translate it to video? It's not better a good video projection instead of a poor movie projection?

Video transfers

Daniel, let me explain my experience:

Home made video transfers is contingent on a lot of thinks. One of them is how you get rid of flickering caused by syncro difference. You can use a telecine as MovieStuff CineMate or WorkPrinter that do the job. If you can't afford it (as I) you may get ...

I think that Ludwig is absolutely right.

Everybody defends lubricating when you projects movies until it loses its flexibility. But how many of you do it? (And I would like to know why, because I'd rather see them in a big TV or thru a DVD player and a LCD projector). And definitely, lubricating ...

What I've learned about all this lubricating stuff is  :

Usually 8mm/Super8 is not used in movie theaters. So, problems are not the same. Lubricate or not lubricate is a decision that depends on the use you give it. If you project it over and over do it (but if it is a new one it came ...
