I am also interested in knowing what aperture settings to use (auto/manual), and exposure tips. And any other info for someone who has never done this before. (me)

Thanks

Which Microphone for Live Sound?? (with MD)

Well, I got a Sharp MD recorder. Now I need a decent mic for live sound.

I'm not looking to spend a lot, as I've managed to get a simple S8 setup for pretty cheap so far. Is there a "standard" for independent film making, such as the SM57 for music? By the way, I do have a few SM57's and condenser ...

Great information. Thanks for those MD links.

Well, I bought a Sharp MD-SR60. I got a pretty good deal on it, and it seems pretty good. I just really need a simple solution for audio.

Now I need a decent mic. I have quite a few mics that I've used for audio projects in the past, but never for ...

Which MD recorder?

I'm looking for a simple recording device and it appears that MD is the way to go. I'm rather ignorant on the topic, and have a couple of questions.

Are all MD players also recorders? Do they all accept a mic in? Are there certain makes or models I should look into on Ebay? It seems most MD players ...

If you could turn that into a PDF file that would be fantastic! I could get filming sooner.

By the way, what is the automatic scene length timer?

Please Help me figure out my Bauer C Royal (Macro Question)

I'm looking for a manual for this camera right now. I don't expect for you guys to tell me how to control every function of this camera, but most of it is rather foreign to me. I'm new to Super8 and just got a hold of this Bauer C Royal 8 E Makro. It's in good functioning order, and I'm happy to get ...

Where can I see Super8 work online?

I imagine this question gets asked from time to time, but I can't seem to find anything in searches.

I'm just looking to see some work done on Super8, whether it be ameteur, semi-professional, independent, etc. I'd like to see some different techniques in use.

I've seen the "online films ...

Yeah I'll probably start looking into that Bogen. Are S8 cameras pretty universal in their compatability with tripods?

I'm not sure what my price range is. I'm pretty new to this, and don't even know how much I spend in this department. With most any hobby, there is usually some product that tends to be sort of an industry standard for a good "starting point".

Once I start to see some prices, I'll have a better ...

Which Tripod?

I've got my first Super 8 camera on it's way, and I'm interested in a simple tripod. I've done searches here and on Ebay, and don't know what would be correct for a Bauer C Royal. Is there any particular one I should watch out for? I'm Looking for smooth pans and motion, and a decent price range ...

Thanks for the responses!

Can anyone comment on technical drawbacks to hands-on editing? Are there any techniques that simply cannot be done without editing digitally?
I realize some things have to be done on the camera like lap dissolves and fades when editing this way.

And also, can anyone ...

Does anybody still edit the old-fashion way??

I'm new to film and am pretty intrigued.. Part of the appeal to me about using classic equipment and recording on film is the opportunity to edit in the "classic" way; using scissors and splices.

It seems that the popular thing to do is to edit digitally, which is great. But does anybody still do ...

Bauer vs. Chinon Pacific?

Sorry I know these camera vs. camera things are kind of cheesy.

I'm new to the Super8 world, and I'm looking for a good first camera. I've been impressed with footage I've seen from Bauer cameras (the 709 XL in particular) but haven't seen any footage from Chinon.

The 2 cameras in particular I'm ...
