The Bolex stereo system You are referring to, is designed for H16 c-mount camera only. 8mm-formats are out of question unfortunately.

there is probably also the voltage difference: European version has a 110-240V adjustable power source while american has a fixed one.

Thanks for the help - unfortunately the label on the mic is worn off, so I can't tell which switch position does what.

On Uher M516 S is up and M is down when holding the mic in the normal vertical position.
