Idiots at Kodak

I sent a roll of DS8 K25 for processing. In the can I enclosed the following instructions:
This 100 ft roll of Double Super 8 Kodachrome 25 was purchased from Wittner Kinotechnik in Germany and the processing is prepaid.

Please process, slit and return to:

I had included instructions to slit the ...

I have shot quite a bit of surfing footage with my Nautica. Also some underwater diving.
Mine has been reworked to shoot at 24 fps.
The quality is very good and the exposure is right on. I've never used the f stop compensator.
I have had trouble with fogging when using the add on wide angle. I tried ...

I don't believe it was ever available in Super 8.
It was shot in 16 with a Bolex. The first time I saw the film was in July of 1964. Bruce Brown stood next to the projected 16mm image and narrated in person as he played the music track on a Wollensack tape recorder. He would have to stop or fast ...

That's fine, but will they adjust it to expose the new Ektachrome 64?

The guy I got it from didn't convert it. I don't know where he got.

I may be interested in selling mine when I finish my current project, in a couple of months.

I think the major problem is still going to be exposure with the new film but I'm sure someone will figure that out.

Probably Nyberg ...

I bought it from a private party through the internet a few years ago (Not ebay). He gave me a choice between one at 18 fps and 24 fps for a little more money. I took the 24 fps one.

I have no idea who converted it.

I wouldn't have the slightest idea about how to convert it.

I will say, if you ...

I have a Eumig Nautica which has been converted to run at 24 fps and I do shoot surfing. It's incredible how crisp and clear the shots are.

I am concerned though on what to do when I run out of K40. Maybe someone knows how to convert it to read Ectachrome 64.

It seems like the old Ektachrome ECO 40/25 would have been a better choice. It would work in all the cameras. Maybe wouldn't project as well but it would be great for video transfers.

I guess my Eumig Nautica w/24fps mod will just become a doorstop.

My Bolex H8 is double Super 8. I've been shooting with it for several years. I started shooting with a Bolex H8 (Reg 8 ) back in 1965. Over the years I've shot with them all, 16, Super 8 cartridge etc.

When I bought my current H8 a few years ago, I thought I was getting reg. 8. When it arrived I ...

Reg 8 vs Super 8

Whenever this debate comes up in various posts, I don't see much mention of double super 8. It does solve the problem of the "cheap plastic cartridge and pressure plate" and it's 100' rolls beat the 50' cartridge problem.
I see Reg 8 Bolex H8's come up for sale all the time on ebay. Isn't there ...

I have been shooting surfing since the mid sixties. Over the years I have used a Bolex H8, H-16 Rex, Beaulieu Super 8 and a Bolex H8 converted to Super 8.

I have used the Pentax screw to "C" mount adapter with all of these cameras and used lenses such as 50 mm Takumar, 135 mm Takumar, 200 mm ...

I just went to Wintner-Kinochek's (sp?) site and they now have Kodachrome 40 Double Super 8 on 100' rolls. Guess I'll keep my Bolex after all.

The last word I got from them is that they do slit the film in New Jersey although it's processed in Switzerland and that they would slit it there if I send it back.

Yes, it usually comes slit and on 200 ft rolls. Never had a problem before. The boxes that it comes in say "16mm" on the side, so ...

Where are you getting the k40 dbl Super 8? Is it on 100' rolls?

Is this what's replacing K25?
