I hoped someone would ask this question. Been thinking of the same thing myself as I also film alot of snowboarding and very often you dont use the whole film at once.

I just tried the place you gave me the link to and they will scan my 300' of film over to a mini-dv for $90 including shipping since I was a student and all the way from Norway. They also said they only transfer in NTSC, but Im thinking of converting It over to PAL at a place in Oslo ...

Andreas, that sounds great! Any idea how long before you will be set up?
If you need anything processed 16mm just to run some test let me know and I'll give you my film to play with at the same time=)

Ok, thanks for that. I shot the thing in 24fps, we are going to dub it later.
How long does a one-light scanning take when you got about 9min?
Maybe I could get away with 30-45min. Im soooo low-cash right now when Im a student.

Looking for telecine/scanning of 16mm in USA

Hi,

I have about 9min of processed negative 16mm color film which I would like to get scanned on to a digi beta tape/dv-tape. I will do the color correcting myself later because Im on a tight budget so I just need a basic scanning of the film. Were can I do this in USA, I need something cheap. Help ...

I have always been very strict about only shooting manual when Im out with my 16mm camera(Scoopic 16M), but I used to barrow a good light meter which I dont have anymore so i was wondering, If I go out and shoot Auto, will the result be much worse? ok i see. so if I use Tungsten film outdoors, what filter should I use to get good results? any typical tungsten film you recomend for filming outdoors in sunny and overcast weater, even snow? Im gonne film some this winter in the mountains so need some film for that. Weater change fast!

How do you get intro the telecine operator profession?
Ive always wonderd about that, seems fun and alot of hours working with film and little details. Very fasinating in my eyes...really find all the stuff that goes on with the film after Its been shot and processed really intresting.
