BFCC in London Saturday 22nd May

For those that may not already know the British Film Collectors Convention is on tomorrow at the Ealing Town Hall. Check the web site if you're interested (http://www.bfcc.biz) in seeing Super 8 on the 24 foot screen, hearing it with THX Dolby Digital sound, and browsing through 50 dealers tables ...

BFCC - DATE CHANGED TO 22nd May 2004

In case you haven't already heard the date of the BFCC has had to change to the 22nd May 2004 (previously advertised for 15th May 2004). We don't know quite how the Ealing Town Hall came to be double booked for the 15th but we feel fortunate to have found out earlier than we should have done.

Any ...

Synthnut, Perry's Movies have a GS-1200 for sale at £1,195. Assuming they still have it this one looks to be in excellent condition. It is not the Xenon version so has the standard 200w ESC lamp (which Derann have just had re-manufactured so no problems with supplies any longer).

Classic Home ...

Kodachrome Super 8 is vibrant. The colours are reminiscent of technicolor and providing you have a good lens on the camera I find the images as sharp as anything I've seen filmed on video.

I have Kodachrome of myself, when I was 2 years old on a family trip to Broomfield Park, Palmers Green, North ...

The ESC lamp was designed specifically for the small aperture of the Super 8 gate and therefore puts more light onto the screen. It appears production of these lamps recently ceased so we may find we all have to source alternatives. I believe the EJL is the alternative but this doesn't put nearly as ...

The Widescreen Centre sell and process standard 8. I don't know if they're the best place but at least they do it. You can find the contact details within the Super 8 Links of http://www.bfcc.biz

Here Jean, how much is that in Marks? Don't understand all this Euro babble - we'll have none of that over here.

Amazing that Super 8 is still around after all this time. If you want evidence that it could be around an awful lot longer the Widescreen Centre are still selling and processing Standard ...

I've seen Canon 814's for sale at British Film Collectors Conventions for as little as £25. Generally they are more expensive than this but make sure it is a good one for £70.

The next BFCC is not until October if you've just missed the May event. Loads of photos of the event have been posted ...

I have a Canon 814 and there is no slow motion facility. I have an XL too and there is slow motion on that but the camera itself does not produce such good results as the ordinary model. The 814 has one of the best lenses ever put on a camera and the clarity of the imagery is unbelievable every time.

http://www.bfcc.biz is currently receiving updates with loads of piccies under the 'Past Events' section. I've slapped them all up (more will follow) in a bit of a hurry as I'm not going to be around for a while and wanted everyone to have the chance of having a look while the event is still recent ...

The BFCC has been around since the 70's. Keith Wilton has been one of the organizers since the beginning. Anyone wants to know about it and hasn't had a look yet can do so at http://www.bfcc.biz .

We plan to put updated pages together for Saturday's event shortly. Also we have to detail the date ...

It's good that so many people have looked into this. I must say though it all sounds very complicated but worth the effort if you can get it right.

The system we'll be using tomorrow was first developed in the early 80's by Keith Wilton and later copied by Cresta and other companies. It is simple ...

Does anyone on this forum want to arrange a meeting time at the bfcc to put faces to the names?

Lucas, if you're in London why don't you just come along? You could just enjoy the shows rather than spending loads of money in the dealers halls.

T-Rex sequence from Jurassic Park to be shown using sync' pulse this Saturday at the BFCC. http://www.bfcc.biz

The reason the video source has to drive the projector is because all transfers run at slightly different speeds. Locking the projector to exactly 24fps would have the sound drift out of ...
