Re: WorkPrinter XP timing help
Thanks for the in depth reply. I will check the internal Raid 0 for capacity and defrag if necessary. I have removed McAfee from the machine as it was a problem and I have shut down as many services down as necessary. No other USB devices are connected.
I'll recheck the timing as suggested.

Re: WorkPrinter XP timing help
Hello Roger
Yes I am using a separate Raid 0-drive array as recommended. I'm using an USB mouse with no other mouse or USB devices. I've also stopped a lot of services from running and the CPU usage is minimal.

WorkPrinter XP timing help
I found the following on a previous post and was wondering where these 3 positions are in relationship to a WorkPrinter XP.
.There are three places on the diameter of the timing disk that can give you no smear but only one that will lock in and have no pulldown blurs forever. The other two timing ...

Re: Canon GL 2
Just an update, I've ordered a NTSC to PAL converter from Amazon so the problem is now sorted.

Canon GL 2
I've just bought a secondhand Canon GL 2 and I have just realised it's a NTSC model and I'm in the UK with PAL tv. I will be using it with my Workprinter XP and I know it will work with firewire to the computer but I don't think I can monitor the AV output on my TV. Can I monitor it via a laptop ...

Re: Advice on a camera for a Workprinter XP
Thanks Andreas
I've taken the plunge and bought a secondhand Canon GL2 and I am waiting for it to arrive. Could anyone tell me if it's possible to tell how many hours the camera has been used for, is there a facility within the camera? I thought I read somewhere that you could.
Thanks

Advice on a camera for a Workprinter XP
I was wondering what video camera with firewire connectivity I can use with my Workprinter XP. My Sony camcorder doesn't have manual white balance and is a bit long in the tooth now.
Any advice much appreciated.

Re: Playback speed for frame by frame capture
Thanks, I have an old pc which I hardly use so I'll try again with that.
On a different note my Workprinter XP came with an USB mouse and I've read on this site it's better to use a PS2 mouse. I have a PS2 adaptor with a mouse sign on it, is it OK to use that.

Thanks to you both for your replies, I'll try your suggestions.
Update.
I've tried to download the avifrate software but my virus checker deemed it unsafe and firefox didn't like the download page.
Many Thanks

Re: Playback speed for frame by frame capture
I don't know what the frame rate it was shot at as it's over 50 years old but being regular 8mm film I would guess it was probably 16fps. I'm using Sony Vegas platinum 9 as my NLE.
Thanks

Playback speed for frame by frame capture
I have now captured a regular 8mm film with my Workprinter XP and I now have an AVI file with all the individual images. Can anyone tell me what me what speed adjustment this needs to be set up to in my NLE program? (PAL).
Running the file as captured seems to be slightly fast.
Many Thanks

Workprinter XP - cleaning lens etc
Hello
I have just started to use my Workprinter XP again after a long absence and I need some advice on the Gaf lens assembly.
I have managed to carefully remove it but I'm not sure it's back in the right position. I removed the knob and screw and removed the cover. I then removed the 2 screws ...

Re: flatbed scanner suggestions?
I have used an Epson 3170 to scan short pieces of 8mm film to see what was on them. I used the Professional Mode and placed the film on the scanner glass and used one of the supplied templates to pin the film flat. Don't try and hold it in the film guides as I found this wouldn't keep the film dead ...
