I'll do that Evan. I don't have a problem with grain anyway. Maybe the transfer will be a little better this way. 8)

I may give the cinelab transfers a try anyway. For the people who have had their super 8 transfers done there, were they the best light transfer or the one with color correction? I'll probably go with the color correction, maybe it won't be that bad.

Well can anyone recommend a place to get super 8 transfered with similar prices, and a decent turnaround time? :?

Well for that roll, I only cared about getting me in the shot, and the ground I was standing on. The background wasn't really lit at all.

I've never seen the prices of the super 8 or 16mm stock on the Kodak site. Its rather annoying...I think you'll have to give them a call to find out.

Its actually a mistake on their site. Its .32 a foot for the transfer with color correction.

No I'm not a student, but even with those prices, I think Cinelab is cheaper than cinepost, however I'm been know to figure in a wrong estimate before.

Hi Steve. Thanks. I had thought Cinelab was cheaper than cinepost. I used Cinepost a while back actually. I was happy with transfer, however I had asked for the film to be transfered to a dvd data disc with the raw video file so I can edit on the computer, and instead I got a normal dvd to play on ...

Thanks for the replies. I have a roll of Tri-X I was going to have push processed, though I don't know how many stops. I shot outside with maybe 400 watts of light, and maybe 7 feet or so from the light. But, I made a very dumb (and embarrasing) mistake of underexposing the film a stop. My camera ...

I'd be getting the super 8 footage transfered there. Does anyone have a Super 8 clip, or even stills that were transfered by cinelab?

Tri-X - How much light do you need?

How much light would you say is needed to get a decent image out of (super 8 ) Tri-X? I have head that with Tri-X you can shoot in pretty dark situations, is this true? I will be seeing my first couple of rolls of it in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Yes but with 16mm, the film still has to be loaded, plus im guessing the camera would be heavier, and the film would run out much faster than the dv tape. And I think those were some of the reasons for his choice. :)

We'll see...

I sent a pre-paid cart out several weeks (possibly longer) ago. That one should have made the deadline. I had another pre-paid cart that I shot later, and decided to just wait and pay for processing at dwaynes. These couple of pre paid carts were bought over a year ago, and I don't mind paying a ...

Yes, I remember when I heard about this months ago, I was very surprised. Especially the fact that Lynch said he was done with film. The reasons for him using dv were good ones for his situation though. More spontanious/ ad libed acting/shooting, lighting conditions, something a little more portable ...
