telecine services in London (or UK)
Hi,
Wondered if anyone could recommend someone to telecine a few Standard 8 reels for me - preferably in London, so I can drop them off in person.
Has anyone used the Widescreen Centre's services for this - what was the quality like? (They charge £15 per 50ft reel at the moment).
Cheers..

OK, well Dwayne's now say (after kindly checking their records for me) that they don't think they've received the films (yet), which would account for the delay - presumably my films are in a sorting office somewhere or perhaps have gone by surface mail. They've also confirmed that the waiver form ...

Kodakchrome processing and release form
I sent a couple of rolls of standard-8 Kodachrome off to Dwayne's at the beginning of the month - they were packed in PK59 mailers. Dwayne's now tell me that if they were sent without a signed release form, they would have been forwarded to Kodak to contact me for this. I didn't realise that the ...

Actually, I do like the look of the B8 as well - I've got a late B8SL and a B8L. One of them even has an accurately working lightmeter, still. The lenses produce lovely crisp images, even the standard Yvar models.

I think the main thing holding back a niche-consumer revival of super 8 (as opposed to its use by professional filmmakers or enthusiasts) is the cost of the film and processing. It's true that the cameras marketed by Lomographische AG are very pricey for what they are, but even a roll of 120 film is ...

Well, thanks for all the suggestions.
My current theory is that using the camera in cold weather made everything jam up a bit, especially the traces of old lubricant in the mechanism. Seems to run a lot better now using an old film, though I'll probably take it to bits again and re-fit the spring ...

You can also convert the 150/155 to manual exposure using this ingenious modification, though I haven't summoned up the courage to dismantle my Bolex just yet (stop laughing at the back, there).

That sounds like a good idea.
I was getting a bit alarmed because with a film in the camera, and with the door open, there was a rapid clicking sort of noise when the film went through the gate - I was assuming that something was fouling in the film gate area. However with the door shut it doesn't ...

Well, I took it apart completely, and oiled everything. The drive shaft for the film counter was a real pain to get back into place and I gave up with the spring on the upper film guide for the time being. The mechanism looked remarkably clean on the whole.
