Did it leave some sticky residue on the rollers?
I wonder how film that gets sticky with the vinegar syndrom would affect PTR rollers.
Anyone?

Re: 400ft film cans
Hey John
Thanks that's very kind of you
Can you stock a couple of 400ft super8 reels in them?
If so, I might be interested.

Re: Nizo Pro caught for speeding
I have seen this a lot on the compact nizo series, but not so much on the Pro and 481 ranges.
Not sure there is much that can be done affordably with that fault. Anyone else has experience with this?

Ok thanks
How long do you think it would take for Kodak to remanufacture some?
I wonder how long it would take them to put it back into carts etc if it runs out.
Not a bad thing it ran out, as it shows a real demand and many new users will want reversal film (colour reversal mmmh...aybe eventually ...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16
So it doesn't record any video. It seems you need to hook up a digital recorder like a Ninja to the HDMI output of the camera if you want that function.
Also, I wonder how silent the camera will run compared to other models for recording sound. Will a blimp be required? I would say so given the ...

4k for super8 can be an overkil in most cases, especially with cheaper lenses.
Also a 1080p or 2k scan with less compression would be better than a compressed (for web upload - convenience) 4k scan. My 2c

Re: Retro8 Image Seq - Super8 Neg inconsistent colour gradin
When you look at the original, it looks like a bunch of pixels with that sort of colour (#939cd3 from Photoshop's color picker), which is purple/mauve color for the highlights, where these white areas should mostly have some greyish tones.

Re: Retro8 Image Seq - Super8 Neg inconsistent colour gradin
Ok thanks for the reply.
What do you mean by "removing the auto-resampling" in vegas.
I have been getting pretty good results from the auto-level then auto-color balance on photoshop for this project.
One thing that persists though that I hadn't had with any other scanners is the crazy colour noise ...

Retro8 Image Seq - Super8 Neg inconsistent colour grading
Hi
Having heard of similar experiments previously on this forum, I tried to experiment with batch processing of tif sequences on Photoshop (PS), that I had captured via the Retro8 Pro.
While the colours and contrast on individual frames are vastly improved (neg scans look very undersaturated and ...

Re: Retro-Universal Scanner in Action!
Interesting stuff. I was going to say the same thing about regristration. Surely, it would work better on a system where registration is dead-on steady via sprocket-base transport?

Re: Capturing Magnetic Super 8 Sound
Hi Kevin
Roger's right. If you have an image (+audio) reference as opposed to only audio, the syncing will be faster.
Sometimes, I find that sync adjustments have to be made in chunks of 10sec, 30sec, 1min, unless you're lucky enough to sync a whole 50ft segment (but that is rare in my experience if ...

Great
Thanks for the thorough reply Frank.
And does it allow you to create ProRes from it then as well? also with the 8bit output limitation?

Re: The new Muller HDS scanner, what do you think about that
So how many bits is the muller HDS scanner?
8? 16?
Does the restoration software limit the depth to 8 bits altogether? or is it 8bits per channel?
When supplying files to a postproduction company for grading, surely it would be best to provide them with something higher than 8bit right?
Seems like ...

Re: Manuals - Manuals - Manuals
Hi
I'd love a manual for the Cinemax 8EE or 85E.
Looking to see how to load the film, also wondering what the 3.5/7 switch on the side of the camera is for.
There is also a mechanical switch on the opening side of the camera (on the door) with A and R positions.
Anyone knows what it is for?
