It's not surprising that DVDs look better over HDMI, it's a digital format being sent over a digital connector to a digital TV, rather than being converted to an analog signal and back again which would degrade the image, but all those image enhancers are going to degrade the image too!

Re: Super8 E100D Transfer of Rez Chart
I really like the feel of lower framerates, 24 seems like a very normal framerate for me, dialing down the projector to 18 gives that magic super8 look for me. but i definitely agree that we should all experiment as much as possible so that we can be the most happy with our images. I was just today ...

i get your point about S8 camera options, i'd not really thought about it that way before. However it very obvious now that i think about it, and i guess (if i'm totally honest with myself) I apply the same level of consumption urge that i criticize digital for encouraging, to my own ...

Re: Great news! You HAVE to use your old 35mm camera now!
I've often thought about this idea of cramming a digital sensor into a super8 cart. I reckon it would be really awesome and really useful. there are two ways i can imagine it being done without modifying the camera to be used.
method 1
you create a cart that records a video stream, this cart can ...

Re: The end is near.
I mean, let's be clear: There is really no practical , commercial reason for the digi-film companies to make their product any better than it currently is. They could simply wait for film to die on the vine and then we'd be "stuck" with whatever state that digital looks. That's a pretty awful ...

wow 6 iso? crazy, you'd need sooo much light!
yeah i know it's not c41, but you might be able to process it in c41 chemistry as there is no remjet to worry about.

print film: what is it? and can you shoot on it?
looking at the kodak catalog i came across this:
"KODAK VISION Color Print Film / 3383 / VCP628 / 16 mm x 2000 ft roll / On Core / Super 8 (1-3) / 2R-1667
16 mm with Super 8 Perforations"
assuming you cut it up into 100ft rolls, would you be able to shoot this on a DS8 camera? if so what would ...

telecine using a 24p camera?
i was just wondering if anyone's tried using something like a canon HV20 in 24p mode filming a 24fps projection?

another issue is that the exposure of each frame can vary slightly, so when you watch the movie back it kinda pulses (or at least so i hear)
apparently this has something to do with the aperture, and can be remedied by using an all manual lens or by tricking the camera by obstructing the contacts ...
