One further, maybe trivial hint: Use high quality screwdrivers -- and only such that fit 100% into that particular screwhead. ...
Yes, you definitely need the proper screwdrivers. I purchased a set of precision screwdrivers -- down to 1mm -- before beginning the job. The Lens Dials were 1mm screws ...

How to avoid stripping Screws when disassembling a Camera
I want to share with you three of my techniques to avoid stripping screw heads when opening up a camera. Firstly, what you need to do is FREEZE the screw head with ICE . To prevent the camera from getting wet, just place the ice cube into a plastic sandwich bag, and push that against the screw head ...

Re: Kodachrome 40 and Velvia 50 in Super8!!
A Mr. Alexander Lechner was gracious enough to provide an English Translation to Wittner's message. Here it is:
(Kodachrome 40 Emulsion 7270) 40T Super 8 is freshly cut DS8 film material (Kodachrome 40 emulsion 7270) from the last batches of production. The material for the Super 8 film cassettes ...

Is it live DUST, or is it Memorex?
You have to be old enough and have lived in North America to get the pun of that title.
We of course have all observed what appears to be dust on our Films. The dust appears to be in the Image, and so we assume that the dust was on the Film in the original Cartridge. Well, think again! When ...

Re: Kodachrome 40 and Velvia 50 in Super8!!
Can someone who reads German please verify (from the German Text below) that this is indeed " Kodak K40 " Film Stock. It would have to be because there is no way that anyone outside of Kodak would know how to make Kodachrome -- which is not a regular Film. Is there any explanation in Wittner's ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
... The point is that the strength of the pull from the winding hub varies with outer diameter and is influenced (possibly) by the friction in your brought on clutch. The pull can be too strong and too weak. Too strong could cause jitteriness as the film is pulled when it is supposed to be still ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
This jitter has no clear cause.
Mitch's problem was jamming -- not jitteriness.
... Lack of power in the pull from the hub may the cause. Also seems consistent with a certain point in the film as the diameter grows with the exposed length. As the diameter grows the power becomes less. ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
Hi, there.
While I agree the clutch is very important, Timetester's solution of the jitter problem does not address some points outlined for instance, by Roger.
In fact my last batch of 4 x developed E 64T show evdent signs of jitter consistently. Fact is they were shot on three different machines ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
If Mitch can get back to us, hopefully he can let us know at what point in feet his Carts jammed. This would be telling info to determine the cause.

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
Thanks for the Graph Chart. It seems like Mitch has disappeared. It is plausible that an unskilled Kodak employee didn't properly connect the Film to the Take-up Spool in his Carts that jammed. There's a little Ratchet Arm in the Cart to prevent the Spool from turning before it's put in the Camera ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
While I salute your enthusiasm in tackling this problem, your theory doesn't explain why ~all~ the 64T carts I shot last year for weddings jammed, and ~none~ of the 64T carts I've shot this year jammed (and also exhibit no jitter). Same camera both years, same type of brand new batteries ...

Re: Inside the Super8 Cartridge
The 14 Pictures for this Thread are being uploaded from the Yahoo Geocities Website which unfortunately limits hourly Data Transfer to 4 MegaBytes. I don't know if Filmshooting.com allows the storage of Pictures on their Website. I would urge you to not unnecessarily view Page 1 of this Thread if ...

Inside the Super8 Cartridge [/u]
Here are pictures of what the Super8 Cartridge looks like inside. The inside part of the Cartridge simply slips into grooves on the outer Case. It would then be melted together. There are the Supply Chamber in the front half, and the Take-up Chamber in the back ...

Re: At last, A SOLUTION TO JITTERINESS
OK, now, are we talking about humid Toronto or never-been humid California? I assume Germany is 100% humid. And what about when you OPEN the cart and keep it around for a while, then go swimming (like with a Nautica) and load the camera while on the dive boat in Fiji? How about loading a cart into ...
