Many thanks Jeff, I'll have to give it a go at modifying one when I get some spare time. At the moment all my spare time is spent doing film transferes!
Thanks again.

On another note, a lot of the films I'm starting to transfer are fairly demanding. They are family films shot in the 70s and early ...

It didn't ocure to me to ask Roger whether he could supply a USB mouse when I ordered my Workprinter, so I was thinking of buying a cheap USB mouse and modifying it for use with the Workprinter as it would be much easier to plug it in the front of my computer when I need it, and leave my main mouse ...

I was thinking that the frame-only preview would be useful particularly when you are first setting up your WorkPrinter and need to test for proper synchronization. If there were blurred (i.e., out-of-sync) frames, you would see them.

Right, got it. I've only got the slow speed Workprinter so that ...

Hello Jeff,
Here's my views.

Would it make the media player and preview windows more useful if you could double-click them to toggle between a full-screen mode and non-full-screen mode?

This would be very useful for both preview and media player. For me, double-clicking would be ideal.

Also ...

Many thanks Roger. I wasn't quite sure what avortex meant by lens distortion now I know. I have been following most of your instructions except I stopped moving the camera as soon as the full gate was visible. I have been changing the projector lens to straighten the edges of the frame but I ...

Roger,
Would you say the clip I posted had this distortion mentioned? I'd like to know what to look out for so I can correct it before doing too many transfers. I'd like to get the quality as best as I can. Is he talking about the general focus of the clip or something else? I chose a pre-recorded ...

Why I always see some lens distortion in all these transfer images? Is it a constant using this machine?

Love to know more about that and how to correct it.

I think the camera version looks sharper as well. Maybe it's because it is resizing a large image into a smaller DV sized image. I know ...

I've uploaded 2 bmp images if anyone would like to see. The first is with my camcorder set to normal camera mode. The second is with it set to memory mode (still pictures). I couldn't get the zoom set quite the same but near enough. There is a definate difference! I don't know whether one is better ...

My cam's main power switch has a setting for camera or memory . If you switch it to memory, you can set the menu settings to super fine and picture size to 1152x864. BUT the steadyshot function seems to be on (I think) and cannot be deactivated when in memory mode. When you zoom in, you cannot go in ...

My camcorder has a still photo option, and I understand this is the only option that uses the full megapixel capability of the camcorder. Video uses about 800 pixels or so. Would it not be a benefit to set the camcorder to still photo (memory) option and use the firewire output to capture the ...

I saw this as well. I set the 'my ebay' page to send me an email if a Workprinter turned-up months ago, before I ordered one from Roger. I forgot to cancel it and an email for this auction turned up a few days ago! But I'm not bitter...

Yep, I sent an emal to simply cine, nothing yet. I'll have a look at that other link though, thanks.

Old Uncle Barry,
If that's the case you'd think they'd be glad of my business however small! I had a problem before when I ordered some film leader. They should have a 'minimum order ...

That was me.

Oh no, hang on a minute, the picture is larger as it gets further from the projector. My brain was thinking it would be smaller because it's further away. How silly of me! Thanks for clearing that up. I think...

I've now emailed several companies including those listed here to ask if they can supply me with film cleaner (2 attempts to the widescreen centre) and not a single reply. I can only assume the order is too small for them to bother with. Any other links to UK suppliers would be much appreciated.
