Didn't seem to be a problem shooting people. No need to ask unless it's an intimate situation. At least in my opinion.

In the villages you'll find that main thing is that people are used to digital cameras and want to see your pics after you shoot them. Having my sister along really helped with ...

I've been a long time Maddin fan. Anyone who hasn't seen his version of Dracula should def. check it out.

I wanted to see Brand in NYC with the guest narrators, but tix were $40 each. That seemed excessive to me, Lou Reed or no Lou Reed. I can barely afford to breath in this city.

Maddin uses ...

Ah....Canadian.

I knew you were just riding me, still just wanted to acknowledge and make my intentions clear. Just means I dig your site, after all.

Heyya,

I totally acknowledge where that pic came from. This issue of recycled images is a tricky one- but surely if it really is a problem let me know and I can change it. Kinda of think of these retro manual pics as part of the creative commons though. I definitely feel differently about ...

Any hassles?
Not really any hassles to speak of, but I kept a low profile. I think the obvious things is to avoid lights or anything too "pro" looking and don't shoot police or government buildings. They actually are at a time where they're actually trying to build their tourism economy- so pretty ...

Thanks fellas~

Yeah, there are more than a few gratuitous time-lapse moments and people seems to love or hate the black frames. It works for me as a way to bring the soundtrack to the forefront. Also, kinda like blinking- you get used to it.

And...Mr. Super8man, much apologies about the bad link ...

The train ride wasn't too nightmarish at all. The trains are really slow and open feeling in Sri Lanka, total delight. But, through the lens and especially through time-lapse it probably does seem pretty rough. If only it were filmed in smellovision!

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I owe it all to Kodachrome.

Toby, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a copy. It looks tons better @ full res. I got my transfer done by Eric Rossen @ Flying Spot Film Transfer in Seattle, by the by.

Belated Introduction

Hi Everybody~

It occurred to me that I jumped right in with the questions a couple weeks ago without any formal/informal introduction. Apologies, this is my 1st forum. So better late than never.

I'm a west coaster turned east coaster. I got turned on to Super 8 in Portland, OR when some friends ...

I agree. It's nice footage and the great composition, but I could go for a warmer tone. Still have Kodachrome eyes, I guess.

I'm about to embark on my 1st project with 64T. Wondering if adding a *warm* linear polarizing filter would warm things up? Or am I misunderstanding this filter?

Thanks Mitch!

Well, I have tried the backwinder when shooting as normal. Unfortunately when shooting normally (without taping) there isn't much, if any, slack left over to backwind. So when it seems like it has to be obstructing the take up somehow or it's not going to work.

From you words, I'm ...

Backwinding and my Nizo 561m

Hi All~

I've been experimenting with my new Nizo. What a fun camera!
I also purchased a Hama Backwinder and am looking forward to experimenting.

Here's my understanding of how it works. Tape off take up knob on the super 8 cart, shoot until jam (usually around 200 frames), take the cart out, take ...

Nizo 561 and Schneider UWL + Batteries

Hi~

I just got my Nizo 561m in the mail! Looks (and sounds) like everything is working great. Shooting my 1st roll this weekend.

Q: There was a Schneider UWL Nizo 1 included with my camera. It appears to only work (in-focus) when I'm in macro mode, not when I zoom out, etc. Just making sure this ...
