Telecine Service UK?

I have recently been let down by the company who has done my telecine in the past so I was hoping that any of you guys could suggest a reasonably priced and reliable alternative in the UK - preferably South East? Thanks in advance. ( I can't name the company who has caused problems for me due to ...

New Film uploaded

Just uploaded a re-edited compressed film shot on Ektachrome 64T. The lens on the Nalcom isn't as sharp as I'd like and the colours not as vivid as my Quarz test but it was fun to use.

Music is "The Glittering sun" from "The Morning" by Arne.

Morales, that's fascinating - I wonder what other lenses can be successfully used?

Was it necessary to remove the internal lens element inside the Quarz body so that your anamorphic lens would work?

The Quarz 5 isn't as versatile/good as the Quarz super 8. You'll probably have to use an external lightmeter too. I also have a Quarz DS8-3 ( Double Super 8 ) which is an improved version of the Quarz 5 but I have yet to run a film through it. (For Standard 8 you can not beat a serviced Bolex! I ...

Ian, thanks. Glad you appreciated the atmosphere. Filmaking is only an interest of mine, I am a painter, ( my avatar is one of my pics). I own two Quarz cameras - I like their ruggedness and lens quality although they are not as reliable as my Bolex 160. BTW, I really liked the Gamine page - your ...

Thanks, Gianni. It was a perfect hot day ( one of very few this summer in England!). It was quite funny, as I walked past the tea shop carrying my Quarz, I heard an old woman with a child say, "Oh look - grandpa used to have an old camera like that!".

Yes, Mucky, of course you can use it - I am ...

I've just uploaded a test film. Compression has reduced quality but I have to say that this little camera worked surprisingly well. I used ND filter and edited in camera. Filmed at 24fps. ( Although I suspect it was slightly faster - these cameras can be unreliable.)

Telecine with iSight?

Just a thought: Has anyone used the portable ( non- built in) Apple iSight camera for small telecine?

I have the iSight built in to my Macbook so I am unable to use it for telecine because of the position on the laptop. However, the quality of movies are super and I can transfer to .dv format and ...

thanks!

I used my Bolex for about 1/2 of "Ennui" but not for "Westsider" as I had to have a more accurate exposure system. Used an Elmo 1012S XL for all interiors; a Canon 814 AZ, a Minolta XL-401 and a borrowed Canon 1014-xls for exteriors.

Eventually I'd like to get the Bolex mod and then use ...

Glad to help. It was a while ago. Congrats on your recent films too!

Did you use your Bolex's in these? (Apart from using, I plan to include mine in a painting at some point!)

It's a fantastic, underrated camera -- my favorite viewfinder. I have the 155 and 160. Great for macro photography. Mitch Perkins designed a mod for making the exposure system manual. Check past messages.

Thanks, Chas. I like the idea of manual modification. I'll check out the other posts.

Natxo....you are making me very excited - ( In a healthy way) :-)

Bolex collector is a superb web site. I really liked the ad you posted too.

Can't wait to run a film through my 160 and experiment. I plan to test EKT64T first.

Thanks again.
