Filmshooting

I have built an intervalometer. I havn't quite got it working yet, but it's not far off. It's approximate but quite accurate. I guess if I was to make a scale for the potentiometer it could be quite precise. It's built from a simple 555 circuit, a relay and the Canon remote cable.

I assume for Hollywood etc if you're paying 10million plus per star your film stock and devpt costs are the least of your worries.

It will be a super-8 of a mini dv. It might not look any better, only different. It really depends what you are going for. You would need to contend with the LCD refresh rate too.

The Canon XLS models are not crystal synced, from what people have told me they do run more consistent timing than the non sound models. They can be modified by peolpe such as The Film Group .

There are other options too such as pilotone or software syncing, but these may come at a loss of quality ...

I can't really condone hitting a camera, but I guess if it's no good then it can't hurt much.

If you have lots of super 8 cameras already then that's kinda unfortunate, but a lot of the time it comes to luck when buying them.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is not stuck in a particular mode, but a particular aperture. The needle may move, but I'm not sure if the iris will respond. Mine doesn't appear to, but mine is open wide so the camera now serves as a very suitable crash cam for gigs.
