Seattle 16mm Series

Come catch the last 2 movies in our Rainy Day Film Series at Kenyon Hall in Seattle.
ESCAPADE IN JAPAN is a shamefully forgotten minor classic. While the story is merely a framework, the location photography and promotion of good will makes this a very special film. The scene of the kibuki chorus ...

You may be in luck - and not just because they have beer on tap. I'm looking to add to my projector collection a double-band projector to play mag stock with silent films. So if you do come to show some film I could probably handle the setup you need.

I'll post some photos tomorrow of our first ...

Well I clean my prints just before I show them. In fact I'm on my way now to clean them for tonight so I might be able to help with that. Let me know what you might be interested in showing and we can discuss. Shoot me an email off line if you want philip at mediabayproductions dot com.
Cheers!

Hi Nigel,
The projectors are coming from my storage locker :)
I have several B&H 1538B Arc projectors and one Elmo Xenon. The arc and of course the xenon would show your film off very well. What is the title?

16mm Film series in Seattle

Tonight is the inagural night for 16mm films at Seattle's Central Cinema. I'll be bringing my kit and some films - the feature is Hitchcock's "Secret Agent", plus a short and cartoon which I haven't decided on yet.
I'll be doing this on the first Monday of every month, and more often if it proves to ...

4008 and movie stills

I know the ScreenSaver has already been produced, but I wanted to pass on another Super8 photo. This is a still of Ursula Andress from Casino Royal with what appears to be a Beaulieu 4008.

I found this on this great site of Free movie stills: http://www.doctormacro.com

You are right, the short film "Small Gauge Blow Up" is very informative. I had actually forgotten about it.

This thread now makes me want to ask what resources folks have for other sites about film shooting and exhibition. Here are some of my favorites:

I'd suggest an External SATA array instead of Firewire. I had just upgraded my FCP system with an exteral SATA drive set and 2 500gb drives and the next day one of my LaCie drives stopped working. Fortunately I had transffered the files to the SATA. Must have known its days were numbered.

Here is a great resource: Video Aids to Film Preservation.

They have quite a few videos on film and I found them to be very informative. Here are the ones on splicing:

I just purchased a bottle of film cement from Larry Urbanski.
FILM CEMENT. 1 ounce bottle with applicator brush......$4

If you are going to the trouble of joining a splice, why risk failure with a homebrew?

Traveling Cinema

To me there is something very nostalgic and romantic about traveling outdoor cinemas. So when I recently ran across these two films I was pleased to see this idea expressed in a documentary and drama.

The first one is from Poland called "Kino Objazdowe" or "The Traveling Cinema". Two guys with a ...

THere is an easy way to run a slideshow screensaver on the Mac. I use it myself to display photos. Right now I'm running a series my oldest daughter took. I just keep them in a folder and it will randomly cycle through them. It even works with a dual screen setup to show separate photos on each ...
