Please Help: Nikon Super 8 camera D.O.A.
Hello there!
I recently recieved a Nikon 8x Super Zoom, that I bought as a fully working item on eBay, from a seller with a strong positive feedback, and several other 8mm cameras for sale. However, when I recieved the camera, it appears to be a D.O.A (dead on arrival) item. I fully believe the ...

Re: North Korea and film
Wasn't there a thread a few years back, about a mystery 16 ASA reversal stock, discovered in a supermarket in Taiwan by a member of this forum, that turned out to be of Korean origin? By a maker called Kim Chek?
A condensed version of the story is as follows:
In October 2005 someone calling ...

Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
Hi Matthew, what you actually said at first was:
" There is a lot of fresh film available in many different types, not to mention a new Super 8 camera, currently being produced in North Korea ".
...which made it sound as if it was as statement of fact, particularly as the first part of the ...

Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
It's mentioned on Wikipedia
Well I take it all back then, if it's mentioned on Wikipedia then it must be true, mustn't it???
After all it's not like any old Tom, Dick or Harry can edit the Wikipedia page, is it???
You'll notice I used the words "reputed", and "apparently". I am fully ...

Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
not to mention a new Super 8 camera, currently being produced in North Korea.

Interesting. Do you have any fuurther information about this camera?

Re: Film storing
I'm no expert on these matter by any stretch, but if you freeze your film, in their sealed original packaging, they'll last practically forever. Chilling films certainly extends their usable life, but by how much I don't know. Probably in the region of two to five years depending on the stock type ...

Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
Personally, I don't at all believe that Super 8 is obsolete. It's completely outlasted not only the analogue video formats that replaced it, but the analogue formats that replaced them, and looks very much in with a chance of outlasting Mini DV too! Super 8 just lasts so well! There is a ...

Re: Spectra Velvia 50D discontinued?
Velvia 50 is quite possibly Fuji's best selling filmstock, and it is easy to see why. It's beautiful whatever it used for, and is still hugely popular with landscape and widelife photographers the world over. I reckon any discontinuation is just down to that specific store, and not Fuji. It's ...

Re: Looking for a Chinon Pocket-8 Any help?
Coincidentally, I'm looking for one of these cameras as well, I don't really have a carry-everywhere type of camera. They really seem well specified for their size, with two shooting speeds and manual exposure. I don't know whether this is full manual, or -/+ correction up to 1 stop. Either way, in ...
