So I have a baby on the way and must sell my beloved and pristine Nizo 6080 with filmgroup 25fps crystal sync unit, Nizo UW3 wideangle lens and sound deadening blimp. This is the quietest of all Super 8 cameras, and with the custom made blimp it is nearly silent. The complete kit is in stunning ...

It's interesting what you say about the black and wwhite stocks, Nigel. The wonderful photography on "The Man Who Wasn't There" was shot on colour stock, and the result is the finest black and white cinematography I have ever seen. Incidently, they only shot in colour because the contract stipulated ...

Re: 25fps and sound issues

Are there any other alternatives to the "speeded up sound" approach?

Thanks in advance :P

If you're getting your telecine done on a pro system, ask for pulldown, which duplicates every 24th frame during transfer.

You could transfer on a Workprinter and duplicate one frame every 24 in NLE.

Isn't this the problem with the eBay feedback system though - that there is a risk involved with giving a bad eBayer a negative, as they may do the same back to you.

It's because of this that some sellers receive money immediately for an item, but refrain from leaving feedback until the buyer has ...

I would strongly recommend Sewing Machine oil (white oil)- the function is similar, and this lubricant is non drying, does not build up a residue and is designed for just such a machine. 3 in 1 is way too thick.

I haven't posted here in ages, but I had a browse today and linked to the site above.

Pardon my French, but the film I saw there, "Heel," is nothing short of FUCKING AMAZING!!! It took an age to download, but it is truly extraordinary what can be achieved with £12 worth of film. I am humbled ...

In no particular order, and surely incomplete:

Black Cat White Cat
Rushmore
Election
Festen
Andrei Rublev
Fanny and Alexander
Nights of Cabiria
Seven Samurai
You Can Count On Me
Withnail & I

Firstly, the camera wants 1.35volt 625 zinc air batteries. If you use 675s they are too small and will not make a circuit, but they are as they wobble about in the hole for them, but with a little adaptation, they are quite useable and a lot cheaper than the zinc air 625 Wein cells. Either make ...

Most digital camcorders DO NOT playback DVCAM. However the PD series of camcorders by Sony do playback DVCAM. I doubt that any of the canon camcorders playback DVCAM, they have a hard enough time playing back mini-dv that was recorded in a sony camcorder.

I also doubt if any one-chip camcorders ...

What is the difference between the light meter in 4080 to 6080? Does it work as good as 6080? If I shoot a film, will the result be different from 4080 to 6080?

It's just upgraded - they basicaly just do the same thing. They look different in the viewfinder, but why they changed it I cannot say ...

The only differences are the support for the 200ft cartridge and the fades lap dissolve of 90 seconds ....The 4080 has a fades lap dissolve of 45 seconds. The other characteristics (including the lens) are the same...
