Re: 8mm movies on iPhone !!!!!!!!!

I agree with reflex.
Not to mention that super 8 doesn't have that hideous rolling shutter.
And the fluctuating vignette while the image stays put is hard to look at.
... nothing to do with super 8.

The technically deteriorated look, so boring.

But at these prices they'll sell a boatload.
And ...

Oops! Forgot to mention the insertion of a turquoise filter in front of light source, behind the projector gate...
Is that an 82a filter?
I'm wondering why you chose to place the filter in front of the light. Don't you have temperature problems that way?
Any reason not to place the filter at a ...

Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D

Negative film stocks simply don't have the same aesthetic characteristics that super 8 reversal produces. I'd sooner treat digital footage to look the way I want before using color negative super 8. Negative film always looks like fake super 8 to me.

Negative film might be fine for larger formats ...

Re: Okay, now I see the source of the HD problem....

We also have to keep in mind that humans tend to cling to what they are accustomed to. Probably an evolutionary hold-over in the limbic system that learned - the devil you know is safer than the devil you don't.
In modern times it expresses itself as the stereotypical "generation gap". You know, the ...

Re: Black and White

The newer tri-X is much nicer than previous incarnations of that film stock. It seems a little less harsh and grainy.

But there is NOTHING like the silky lush textures of PLUS-X when shooting in the right light.

But if you've never used it , you probably won't miss it.

I am grateful that we still ...

Re: Is it dead here or just me??

I'm still here. I've been reading this forum for years but only signed up a while back. I'm mostly a reader, not so much a poster.

RE Chas: "... All the new film stocks are no more than substitute for real stuff..."

I sort of disagree. I do REALLY REALLY MISS KODACHROME. But it seems like 64T is ...

Interesting camera. Is it hard to change film?
What light is that?

Re: Which film stock do you use?

Dude - If you want valid statistics you should trash this thread and start over with all of the emulsions on their own tab.

Especially when it comes to Kodak B&W reversal.
There have been so many changes between Plus-X and Tri-x over the past years that people might be curious to see how that ...

Re: super 8 or video

You can't imitate what happens in the lens.
I know there are tons of pug-ins that emulate the emulsion of film and many who introduce fake artifacts. IMHO Fake Film tricks just look cheesy. I can usually spot them a mile away. There are some which, when used tastefully, can be a valuable creative ...

Re: Cartridge jamming

OK, It appears there are two threads going for this topic so I'll move my comment over here:

I've had an increasing problem with jamming carts. I was blaming it on my Canon 814 AZ but I got another 814 and that one's doing it too.

Both Tri-X and 64T

Re: Canon 814 question

Can anyone recommend an affordable place in the US to get the Canon 814 AZ serviced?
I've got one that has a problem with the film transport motor (no longer triggers) but the zoom and battery meter are fine.

Thanks.
