Here's what I do, and some tips:

I have 3 drives on my machine:
120Gb for the OS and my photoscans
200Gb for the editing, work in progress and stuff
400Gb for my raw captures

I have Windows XP running on a Pentium 4 running at 1.8Ghz with 512Mb RAM. Not exactly state-of-the-art technology but I ...

I filmed my last 3 K40 carts early this year. All 3 on my trusty old Canon 1014E. The first two came back beautiful as expected.

The last film was one I found in my fridge with an expiry date in 1982. I took it to Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays in Queensland and filmed beach scenes on Lindeman ...

I bought the 1014E new in 1976 and still use it today. (although I discovered video 15 years ago, and now also have a Beaulieu 4008 as well so the 1014E hasn't been used constantly all that time).

It's worked perfectly all that time until now. I've always found the light meter to be accurate, and ...

Light Meter Broken in Canon 1014E. Fixable?

Does anyone know how to fix a broken light meter in a Canon 1014E?

My Canon 1014E has worked perfectly for 30 years, but as soon as I loaded my very first cartridge of E64 the lightmeter stopped working.

The needle in the viewfinder now seems to get stuck around the middle of the scale regardless ...

I have successfully shot K40 on a Canon 1014E at the beach (Whitsundays, Australia). I found that the biggest problem is that there is such a huge difference in brightness between the sand, water etc and the subject. You either get beautifully exposed scenery and the subject is too dark, or the ...

On the DVD Infinity web site, they claim to scan each frame "digitally... at above broadcast quality... using... unique technology, software...". They imply that no projector is involved.

This suggests to me that they may be scanning each frame by moving the film across a CCD, then assembling all ...

Regarding transfers in Australia

Does anyone know what process DVD Infinity use for their transfers?

I have around 2000 foot of S8 K40 that I want to transfer to digital.

At this stage I am deciding between Video-8 and DVD-Infinity. Video-8 has a Rank, but DVD infinity only say they have a "...proprietry process...the highest ...

Kodak sending off one more lot of K40 to Switzerland

Thanks Richard,

I called Kodak. They said they are sending off one more box of K40 to Switzerland, and if I send my rolls off asap so they get to Kodak on Monday, they'll be included.

Cheers,

Oops

Sorry Guys,

When I looked again at the Kodak site it said "Australia" under the Kodak logo, but when I looked closely at the URL it contained "/US/".

So Kodak! You have a bug in your site! To replicate the bug, try starting out in "US", go to "Cinematography" then to "Products" then "change" to ...

Yet another Super8er in Melbourne

Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd say there's another Super8 user in Melbourne (me). I bought 5 rolls of E64 recently, but haven't had a chance to use it yet either due to the weather. I have 3 rolls of K40 ready to send off for processing. One's 20 years old so I'm not expecting much from it.

From the ...
