Beware of Quicktime Player ! It always plays DV in the lowest quality, thus giving you that blury picture that lacks definition. If you look at the same shot in Final Cut Pro in high quality playback it's ok. It's just the QT Player playback of dv. Never rely on this to judge your dv shots.

Yes, it was all using the built-in filters. 85B should be ok on the Beaulieu since that camera has independent ASA setting knob, but what about the Bauer? I know this topic has been discussed many times but nobody seemed to agree. The Bauer obviously knows when the built-in filter is in place, thus ...

I have shot several 64T rolls outdoors with my Beaulieu 4008 ZM II (set to 40 asa because on daylight setting) and Bauer S709 XL. The Bauer obviously read it as 40 asa, and was thus supposed to overexpose it by at least 1/2 stop and gave great results. The overexposure is barely noticeable. On both ...

Same for me. Got two rolls from Kodak Lab and one showed a blue vertical line on all the film. It happened before with different cameras so this is probably a catridge flaw or processing problem. It's just sad that it always happens on your most beautifuly shot K40…

BTW, since you are a distributor of Small Format, can you tell me how I can actually pay a 1-year subscription. I bought #1 and they give the price but don't tell how you can pay (card, check, transfer… ?)

If this is a sign that Kodak really wants to keep Super8 alive, I'm more than ok with such ideas! :D

Kodak lab in association with SmallFormat Magazine !

Got one of my Super8 rolls back from Kodak Lausanne and included with my processed film was a 3-fold ad/order brochure from SmallFormat magazine… Funny…

Yeah, sounds like the same problem… but nothing in here seems to show there was once a piece of cork… Have a look at the pictures.

Well, I've had a peep inside and the only belt I could find is the thin one that's used for the frame counter. The front and back reels are connected one to another with a long transversal bar and gears. When you set to play, stop or backwards play, there are parts that are moving to hold or release ...

Projector : Bell & Howell 1481. Any info ?

I was recently given a "brand new" Bell & Howell 1481 projector. This is the funkiest projector I've seen so far. Might have been featured in some 70's futuristic movie  I'm looking for info and tips because, though it is mint cosmeticaly speaking, the back reel won't move an inch and thus ...

Ok, so the instant-extra-strong-everlasting-super-glue thing is not the best idea I've had today, right? Actually, I was more concerned about whether or not remove the old dried glue so that it doesn't make layers and get thicker under the plate, which might cause the cartridge to be offset in its ...

Glueing Beaulieu 4008 ZMII parts ?

The metal plate that hides the mechanism and electronics inside the film compartment of my Beaulieu 4008 ZMII fell apart. From what I could observe, this part was originally glued. Can I just use regular metal glue like Loctite or else ?

Thanks.

8 cartridges of K40 in my fridge (Cost me more than my complete
4008 ZMII !)
And yet, they almost had 15 or 20 of them left at the shop… I just couldn't afford the whole bunch :(

No backwinding facility as on (most of) the 4008zmIIs.
Yeah, but this was wrong and confusing. You have to make a difference between the ZM's and the ZM II.

Excuse-me but the 4008 ZM II DOES have film rewind option AND motorized/manual zoom. I know because I own it…
The 4008 series (S, ZM, ZM II, ZM IV, etc.) are not all identical, though they often share common specs.
