Re: Are my films ruined ?

Hi Mana,

Just got your PM and replied to it.
I was assuming nobody would have interest in these old films with very uncertain results.
But a few PM I received showed me there are people interested in experimenting with these stocks.

Actually there's already a member in the line to get the films ...

Re: Are my films ruined ?

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your replies.

Yes there's probably something wrong with the fridge, like I'm not taking enough care.
Also I think it's way too cold but I can't find any setting knob, maybe it's been caught in the ice too.

I managed to remove the carts gently. They're still in the foil ...

Are my films ruined ?

Hello,

After finally editing a short shot on Super 8 a few years ago, I felt the need to get back to shooting some more now that summer is here.

However, after opening for the first time in months the small fridge I use to store my unexposed films, this what I discovered :

I don't post much but come here everyday to follow the discussions.
I believe Flatwood post went unnoticed by the regular users.

My sincere thoughts to you and your loved ones, Flatwood.

Best wishes.

Re: Where to buy S8 film in Miami ?

Thanks to both of you ! :)

The Kodak direct delivery seems to be the easiest and probably the cheapest way.
So we'll do that.

Where to buy S8 film in Miami ?

Hi all,

A friend of mine is planning a trip to Miami FLA and has agreed to bring me back some cartridges, as they are so cheap in the US compared to what we have to pay here in Europe.

I searched on the internet and this board archives but couldn't find mention of a shop. Not sure if he can have ...

Re: Kodak In Camera Magazine: Shikashika

Hi Steve,

Cool article on what seems to be a cool film.

Info on filmstock was especially valuable for me since I'm in preproduction stage for a feature doc that will hopefully be shot next year in Bolivia heights (Sun Island). It probably won't be shot only on film, but definitely to a large ...

Re: Manual asa rating and filters...

Thanks for the input Filmjockey.

I suspect the Leicina should behave like the Bealieu. I wish I could know for sure.
The best thing would probably to use only external filters. That would be a no brainer and probably a better thing to do since these old gelatin internal filters age badly anyway ...

Re: Manual asa rating and filters...

Hey Miki and thanks again.

Yes I'm sure there some Leicina Specialists on the board.

I just hope they're not on vacation. :)

Cheers.

Re: Manual asa rating and filters...

Thanks for the reply Miki, but I think that doesn't really answer my question. :D

Remember that the Leicina doesn't have those pins to read the cartridge notches, so it doesn't have a clue about the film speed or its type (T or D). There's a knob, like on Beaulieu cameras, to manually set the film ...

Manual asa rating and filters...

Hello everybody,

As the happy owner of a Leicina Special, I don't have to worry about carts' notches, and that's a good thing...

However, I got confused about rating the film speed when using filters. I pretty much convinced myself that I have to rate E64 at 64 if I use an external 85B, since the ...

Hi Si,

Too bad you didn't spot the the problem when you opened the camera.

There is this french website http://www.cine-super8.net/ which is ran by a guy who says he's a former Bauer/Nizo technician. He seems nice anyway and says he might work sometimes on these models if the problem is not too ...

I have exactly the same problem with mine.
I'm not a techie so I brought it to a so-called S8/16 specialist who kept the camera for three months but returned it to me, having done nothing.

Anyway, I somehow manage to keep the aperture set by shifting very slightly the knob from the "fix" position ...
