Re: Cine Camera Movie Light DIY job?

There are a few non-sanyo lights on e-bay although some are listed as video lights - for movie cameras you are looking at much more power eg 500 or 1000 watts as sensitivity much lower than video cameras where 10 or 20w may be adequate.

Avoid those using reflector photoflood bulbs as these are very ...

Re: Have you finished off your Kodachrome yet?

My last 4 cartridges sent of to Dwaynes on the 15th December - received their Paypal invoice on the 24th so hope to receive them back soon. Pleased to see that they got there on time for processing with the post from the UK quicker than domestic deliveries at the moment.

Re: ID This Super 8 Stock: Ektachrome II

I think Angus is about right on this - I remember vaguely having a roll labelled Ektachrome 11 in Standard 8 about the time I was normally using Kodachrome II

I think this was about 1970 but I will try to find the faded segment amounst my Kodachrome reels to try and date it.

Re: Smallformat magazine

not another 'smallformat' bashing post i hope. [/u

Just to make it absolutely clear, my recent postings were not bashing 'smallformat' - it is a great magazine - I am only 'bashing' the publisher's procedures which really let down the editorial team.

In different personal circumstances I would ...

Re: Smallformat - Be very careful what you are buying

Sorry to have stirred this up again ! I had missed earlier threads.

All I can say is that there was no reason to assume that the purchase of 6 copies was an order to extend beyond his.

Even now, going to the subscription link from this site offers - "The price for six issues is EUR 69/US-$ 79. I ...

Smallformat - Be very careful what you are buying

Just a warning before subscribing. You may be safer buying single issues.

In early 2007 I purchased a one year subscription to Smallformat. This was defined on the publishers site as 6 copies. I paid for this year in advance using Paypal. The magazine arrived after a few months and eventually after ...

D-76 and ID-11 are basically interchangeable - I prefer ID-11 as it still comes as two bags of powder rather than D-76 which is now a single pack - just seems to make dissolving it a bit easier

Sorry can't help - I have a couple of Nauticas but have never tried to open them.

If I recall correctly the innards are based on the Eumig mini 3 - these can be picked up for next to nothing if you find that you need internal parts once you get inside.

In comparing film speeds with still photography remember that in Super 8 films such as 64-T and Kodachrome 40 (still have a couple of cartridges  ) are tungsten films - With filter in use in daylight their effective speeds are 40ASA and 25ASA respectively.

Angus may have found K25 slow coming ...

The main issue restricting range of exposure is the effective shutter speed - a function of filming speed and shutter angle - if this is in the range of 1/45 to 1/60 of a second then the use of films in the range of 25 to 160 ASA matches very well with normal aperture ranges.

For example with ...

Another great article and the whole issue was a fascinating read -

What did make me smile was the comment about two rolls of E64T still missing after 10 weeks .... That is almost exactly the time since I took out a subscription in late February and still my "free" roll has not appeared... must be ...

Just one word of caution before getting the pipe wrench out - some models of the Yvar 12.5mm lenses for the L8 and B8 models were also available as fixed focus -

I once bought a camera fitted with one without looking closely (price was cheap) and convinced myself that it was seized and got so far ...
