I did take into consideration the issues of film registration (which should be no problem) and the bigger issue of scratches, dust and optical matters.

I mainly want to avoid any camera "surgery," so to speak, while allowing it to expose 64T without using the manual override.

The worst case ...

85B filter idea

While I stocked up on plenty of K40, I will eventually run out. In the meantime, I've been tossing up some ideas on how to make my 40/160 ASA cam use the new 64T without using manual exposure.

I was thinking about getting an 85B filter and cutting a length to fit along the film gate area (not a ...

I see your point, however, but there isn't a whole lot of Kodachrome being used today as there are other major sources of pollutants.

I don't mind the environmental tradeoff for my K40.

Angus, I have the Quartz 2x8S3. Not too bad of a camera. I've only shot Foma on it so far and the meter seems accurate. I'll probably get a load of K40 for it 1) When my S8 stock runs dry or 2) That format gets canned and I need to stock up.

The only problems I've had is on one occasion the motor ...

At 6:00, the sun is noticeably less intense, but it's not too far from the noon sun. It's usually like that from June to late September.

I'm not sure how long the winters are in Cali, but they're only about 3-4 months of decent winter here. Last year was an exception, it didn't get cold until late ...

Fax them a copy of your student ID. Call up the regular order line and they'll give you the 800 number to fax it to...oh and I still use my ID for discounts everywhere even though I graduated...

I use the student discount. I wasn't sure if the discount was < 20% on orders < 10 rolls because I always order at least 10 each time.

I have the XL 42...two of them to be exact. Great camera and a real workhorse. The 64 has a few more features so I'm sure it's a good one as well.

Student discount is 20% (I think if you order 10 or more carts). That puts K40 at $8.66 a cart plus shipping and tax. Discount might be less if you order <10.

K40 Numbers

I just placed an order for some more K40. As of 9:20 am CST, Kodak says they have around 100 rolls left at the New York location.

Interestingly enough, the rep told me Kodak expects to manufacture one more batch at least, due to high demand.

So this brings me to almost 40 rolls, not including my ...

The new mailers specify Kodachrome as well as the older EM-26 Ektachrome films (E160, E160 Sound and Type G). Since they didn't change them, it's safe to assume they should honor them. I have a few new mailers since I do have several carts of E160 sound.

There are some theories that the film itself was altered on its way to...somewhere...in 1963 right after the initial viewing by Zapruder, Secret Service, new outlets, etc. From watching it myself I see a number of areas of "missing" film (people moving at a slow pace in one frame suddenly move 10 ...
