super 8 and air travel

hi guys,

a question about air travel. i'm new to Super 8 and plan to take my camera and some Tri-X and Plus-X reversal film on a trip from the united states to germany. i plan to stash it all cosily in my checked baggage.

my question is: do airport security x-rays damage unexposed super 8 film ...

Only a couple more things I'm curious about. It has a Fade switch labled S, S+P, P. What could these settings mean?

Also right next to the fade button is a bizarre little dial with a picture of a rectangle, half of which is blank and half which is darkened with lines. Could ...

I recently found a "Chinon Pacific 60 SMR XL/Direct Sound" Super 8 camera at a yard sale. I'm planning to use it to shoot a 4 minute B&W short, almost entirely outdoors. I've got a few rolls of Tri-X for that purpose. My only problem is that I know nothing about the device I'm working ...

Thanks for the tips. It'll be a mostly indoor shoot with largely natural light through a nearby window. A bit of grain and contrast would be appropriate I think.

K-40 is really the only stock that you can reliably use with a Super 8 camera's auto setting.

Greetings,

I'm about to attempt my first foray into shooting Super 8. Up until now, I've only worked with digitial. I've been reading about super 8 online but havent found much information about the two cameras that i've got.
