Oh, is that what they have? Sorry if I was mistaken.

Using a matte? A matte box? No, I wasn't. The Beaulieu 7008 doesn't have a built in filter.

Re: V3 50D, Angenieux 6-70, Zeiss Cinema prime, Letus Anamor

Yeah, Warp stabilizer but in the "position" setting , not "subspace warp" which creates those weird artifacts. I had a pressure plate on the cartridge but it's still pretty unstable since S8 is not pin registered (with the exception of the Logmar camera). The only problem with the grain and online ...

V3 50D, Angenieux 6-70, Zeiss Cinema prime, Letus AnamorphX

https://vimeo.com/179016336

I just shot some Super8 basic camera tests. Make sure that your video settings are in HD. It was an extremely hot day here in Las Vegas, my friend and I made it as quick as possible. It was Kodak Vision 3 50D color negative. Shot on a Beaulieu 7008 camera, Angenieux 6 ...

It's funny reading these old posts knowing all that has happened in the past few years.

Re: HD Super 8mm Spirit Transfer - A Clip!

It does look great. Can you give us any additional info, what stock was it? What camera/lenses? Was it S8 cropped to 16:9 or a modified camera?

Re: Adobe Photoshop help

Try aligning the photos at 100% zoom scale (pixel for pixel), older versions of Photoshop didn't have a great scaling engine so if you're viewing at let's say 33.3% zoom the pixels might not be scaled perfectly in the display as they actually are in the image. Hope this works and makes sense.

Also ...

Re: Is 3D here for the duration?

Aside from people with medical binocular issues (I think it was estimated at 7% of the population), we also have to consider that a more significant amount of people cannot bear watching 3D movies because of the way their brain works, I caught an article on this somewhere (I wish I could remember ...

That could be the ultimate Sensor for DIY telecine!

I've recently played with my RED as a direct capture camera for my Workprinter... Don't have much to report other that it has promise, I've shared the results with some people as we're trying to fine tune details and achieve the best possible ...

Re: How do you make a blurry image on Photoshop become clear?

The closest (non scientific oriented) application I've seen to getting a usable result from an out of focus image is http://www.focusmagic.com/

You could also try the "smart sharpen" filter in Photoshop, with the right settings it can help a bit.

There's no "magic" way to get detail that isn't ...

Re: Ikonoskop DII: discussion on new camera

I own a RED one camera so I might be a bit biased. Apart from producing exceptional images RED has achieved something very important which is direct integration with the leading NLE software and DI solutions. There are far more RED cameras out there (5000+) than all the DALSA, SI, ARRI D20/D21 ...

Re: Film or digital

The latest Bond film was shot mostly on 35mm film. There was some digitally originated footage shot with Dalsa 4K cameras used for VFX (DALSA has recently closed it's digital cinema business, selling it's technology to Arri.) Some Arri D-20/D-21 footage was also used.

As far as origination, (as of ...

Re: how many runs will a 16mm viewing copy last?

My opinion is that the most important factor is how clean and well maintained the projector and projection enviroment is. Best case is everything is clean and well maintained and you get hundreds of runs. Worst case is the projector is in bad shape or you're in a sandstorm  and your print gets ...

An SLR would have a physical shutter, the most obvious purpose being the mirror on the shutter that allows you to look through the lens optically. Usually, the higher end the camera, the better (and faster) the shutter.

Even some video cameras have mechanical shutters. The higher end BTS/Philips ...
