Re: Eumig Chemo Splicer - Film Cement
I always used acetone; it works on acetate stock, not on polyester/mylar.

Re: anyone have any lomokino results?
Considering that you can buy a real 35mm movie camera (Bell & Howell Eyemo) starting about $120, I don't see the appeal of a toy like this at that price point.

Magazines are plentiful, but you have to load them yourself - with double perf 16mm stock, because, due to the design, the magazine uses the perfs that are normally left off for S16 use.mr8mm wrote:Is the 16mm magazine still available. I have not seen 16mm magazines for some time.---John S.

Re: cam repair
Hello, all. I've recently had an easing of previous financial straits and would like to get my Beaulieu 4008ZM2 fixed. Is Bjorn (or anybody else) refurbishing these cameras anymore?

Re: When was the last time you shot real movie film?
Haven't shot any movie film lately. I've been doing medium & large format still photography up to 8"x10", but have dusted off a couple S8 cameras and am planning on starting up again.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
My download completed on my office computer - after 3 days. And on my home machine after about 1 1/2 days. But the downloads got faster with time as more people started downloading. I've done some spot checking of the files and they look darn good for carts that have been floating around the world ...

Re: Has Super 8 beaten obsolescence?
I went into Target the other day to buy videotapes for my Digital 8 camcorder (vintage 2004). Guess what? They don't stock High 8/D8 tapes anymore, they're obsolete.
And what happens when my D8 camera jams up one day (hopefully not soon)? Where will I find anybody else who's got a D8 camera to play ...

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
I've tried playing back a few of those .mov files that are mostly completed - and am happily impressed. That old Kodachrome looks pretty good in these transfers. It's funny to watch a partially-downloaded file, which has random frames of crazy pink and green squares running across the screen, like ...

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
I've got a Windows / uTorrent client running behind a firewall at work, which is slow and could conceivably get me in trouble - but when I left work this evening it was at about 47% download of the SD version. I'm now home, on a Xubuntu Linux box running Firefox and a small client called ...

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
I've got the uTorrent download coming through to my behind-a-corporate-firewall machine, based on the torrent file I received. It's currently at 0.4% downloaded, download speed a leisurely 28 kBps, with an upload speed of about half that. Even as I write, the speeds are improving as more clients ...

Re: ASA 10 ?
The ASA 10 film you refer to is probably an orthochromatic stock normally used in creating optical sound tracks, such as Agfa ST8 Ortho film. I've got a few cans of the stuff around. It has no antihalation backing, so you'll find that highlights tend to spread and halo. It's an interesting stock ...

OTOH, since I'm so stingy with film I load spools in total darkness to squeeze every last foot out.
