J&C photo has 25ft Foma R for $7.99... anyone ever dealt with them?

Yes, they're fine. They ship immediately.

Where can you get Foma processed in the states...?

One of these places, presumably. Some of them seem to do Standard 8, although I haven't checked:

I reckon the use of "video" as a term is just general sloppiness with the English language that we are increasingly seeing

I would have assumed it had more to do with people not realizing that there is an inherent difference between film and video technology. The same reason why people talk about ...

Re: Just shot my last fresh K40

Well I shot my last brand new cart of K40 this week. We were on a camping trip with friends, and I took along my last three fresh cartridges.

Funny, I just came back frrom a camping trip where I shot one of my last rolls of K40, too!

That reminded me a bit of the precise distinction in Latin grammar between his/her/its (i. e. someone else's) and his/her/its own but what followed didn't seem like it.

What do you mean, exactly?

I wonder though, why do they refer that much to German? Proto-Germanic/Teutonic and proto-Celtic ...

You should see the names of places in Ireland, they're pronounced completely differently than they're written.

I presume you're referring to the Irish-language names? The English transliterations are generally pronounced as spelt.

Is that true that Nizo cameras were used in some Star Trek episodes ?

A Nizo (with a Swastika stuck on the side) is seen in "Patterns of Force". Someone here said it was an S80.

I've been wondering about this, too. So, just to be clear:

On a 40/160-only camera, Tri-X is read as 160, so a filter notch must be cut and the filter activated. This rates and exposes the film at 100 ASA regardless of the type of lighting. I'm assuming this because the back of the Tri-X (7278) box ...

It is an 85A type filter which is built into the camera and is swung in and out of position by means of a thumbwheel on the side of the camera.
No, this particular camera does not have TTL metering, so manual adjustment is "the order of the day".

Unless, of course, the camera automatically ...

With std 8mm film they just assume it is process paid even if you've bought a recent spool from john Schwind that is not process paid.

So, just to be clear: you can effectively get Mr. Schwind's CineChrome 25 processed for free if you just send it to Wimbledon? No money required? Does this apply ...

I understand home processors have used the same process as the old tri-x but Andec has always processed this film on a different day to the tri-x so I suspect they do something different with it.

Of the five rolls I've shot of this, three have been processed by Andec via Widescreen, and two by ...

I'm not trying to cause confusion, but I've shot this stuff as-is using autoexposure (40ASA) and have not had any problems. The picture was perfectly alright, exposure-wise. I surely can't be the only one. Has anyone shot for both ratings and made a comparison?

Thanks.

By the way, does anyone know the likely cost of getting this thing repaired? That is, in a country with not too many competing camera repair shops. The problem doesn't seem too great. Just a dead clockwork motor, which I presume is simple enough to fix.
