Yeah, actually I've seen how smooth they are(not from the terrible quality previews on Manfrotto's site). I think it works because the center of gravity is the camera, so any slight movement with the hands is not an issue. I've seen it compared to the "Evil Dead" rig which was mounted on a 2x4.

As ...

Fig Rig

Has anyone actually used this thing? I am sort of interested in at least trying it, but I haven't been able to locate anyone around me (DC&Balto) that have one to try out. The $300 price tag seems a bit steep.

you should definitely check out her films, "Meshes of the Afternoon" is probably one of the most touching experimental films i've ever seen... and "At Land" is very nice too... in fact you should just watch the whole bunch of them, she only made about six.

Doh you beat me to the punch. I read ...

I'm always impressed with people's setups and never happy with my own haha! Seriously though, it looks really great and I too eagerly await the results. Did you buy all this together or piece it?

I've read about it, and seen trailers for it. Looks pretty interesting both visually and topically. Being a fan of the DWs, I can tell you that at the very least its a wild ride. I think the format really suits them and their more down 'n dirty rock style. The director was on the Carson Daly show ...

I'm not sure whether this applies to Ebay or not but by US Gov't Law you must have at least 30 days to return an item. Also if you paid by CC, then you can call yr credit company and have a "halt payment" put on it. The company will research the discrepancy and most of the time side with you. Maybe ...

Yeah, actually on the DVD there is a behind the scenes docu about the making of the film. Very cool. Used a bunch of different cameras, if I remember correctly, tons of Bauers perhaps. Oddly enough too, I think I read this was one of the big critics top picks for 2004.

I work at a tv station and across the street, straight out of our breakroom window you could see an apt with questionable lights as well. It always baffled me why no one else questioned why they would be growning "seasonal" plants and then suddenly they would be gone, only to reappear.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there a S8 website floating around out there (perhaps someone on here) that has old issues of a S8 mag that has a bunch of DIY projects? In fact I know I've seen it because it piqued my interest as well with a cheap car mount using plywood and a tripod.

Now the question ...

Just a heads up for anyone in the Western MD, South-Central PA, WV Panhandle, NoVa areas:

I called the Hagerstown WalMart and they told me they send out the Super 8 film to FujiColor in Williamsport. Then I tracked down their number and of course they relay it to Dwaynes. Total cost: $4.88. Not too ...

Light meter help

So I've decided I'm finally in the market for a hand-held light meter. It's taken some time. In any event do any of you have an opinion on what type I should invest in or should look at? I don't want something too pricey at the moment. Just some input would be appreciated.

I work in television commercials and do this a ton. To make the pixels/picture concurrent with NTSC 4:3 then you have to make the size of 720x480. 720x486 would be slightly off, though not noticable.

Help! Is this what I am looking for?

got a question for all of you out there. I own a Canon 512XL, and it does not unfortunately have a time lapse function on it. Would this little diddy on Ebay help me accomplish it or am I hoping for something which just isn't there?
