Filmshooting

I know it's useful to store unexposed Super 8 film in the freezer to extend it's shelf life, but what about exposed film? I'm going to have to keep my film stored for about 2 weeks after it is exposed (I'm going out of town) and I was wondering what the best way to store it would be.

So is Avid XDV not recommended then? The reason I ask is that my current PC (an Original Pentium 133) won't handle any of these programs, so I'll need to get another PC anyway. This one still serves well for Word processing, etc. and my other machine would be dedicated (whether it be Mac or PC ...
