Filmshooting

so i set up some lights today and did a trial with the camera and its auto aperature without running any film. The camera's auto iris definitely shrinks down an f stop to 2 running at 9 fps as compared to wide open at 1.4 running at 18 fps.

If i dont use a light meter could i just trust the ...

do you see any problem if i use these consumer halogens - the type for carpentry, utility etc? how about if i introduce another type of light to brighten up the place further? - if all the lights are generally blended together to create a unique color temperature- shouldnt i be able to ...

I know, i know but this boy is super broke and i thought id try using a few 500 watt halogen lights to bounce around a large, white room shooting K40 then hopefully try to color correct the image after off the wall transfer in final cut pro. I assume that hologen color space is somewhat less yellow ...

this is from off the wall telecine i did couple years ago. the film is plus-x using a one chip consumer dv cam. took a couple attempts but almost all flickering is gone. i actually do like the peripheral bluring around the edges of the frame from the projector.

yeah, i do have a functioning s8 projector with variable speed so i at least got that part down. so i understand you to be saying that as far as a home telecine a one chip will record just about as well as a higher end dv cam?

are those all actual stills from the k40 film? they look great. i know they might break up if blown up but look real good in theyre native size.

thanks for the reply. i guess im so used to viewing crappy consumer-grade dv footage and viewing it on the computer in FCP that i assumed anything passing through the dv camera chip would end up looking the same regardless of the source. so basically i was debating the two alternatives i ...
