Unfortunately you have to crop in past that. Or if you matte to a tighter 2.35:1 ratio you won't need to zoom in as much.
Max 8 is interesting, but not perfect.

More exciting news at Frame Discreet:
We now offer HDR SCANNING.
This does two flashes on the film giving cleaner scans and getting more highlight and shadow detail.
Super impressed with the results when used with the secret sauce techniques we've dialed in on our Lasergraphics 5k Scanstation.

Re: Pro8mm New 5K Scanner
Hey guys!
Pro8 followed suit and also got the lasergraphics scanstation. Though we've done some additional development with ours. We also added the 8/16/35 gates to make it compatible with all formats. (kind of a selfish move so I can shoot on 16 and 35 and scan in 5k :)
I love film.

Re: The new Muller HDS scanner, what do you think about that
We tested many different scanners and had our socks blown off by the lasergraphics scanstation. Got all the bells and whistles to be running up to 5k scans in 8, 16 and 35. The engineers at Lasergraphics are incredible. Couldn't find another scanner that gave the performance and image quality that ...

Thanks Andre!
Yeah, it's pretty crazy how things have changed from 2004. When I wanted to shoot a film on super 8 and couldn't find somewhere to transfer it at the quality I wanted without having to fly to the states to supervise a transfer....

Std/reg 8mm sound Projector/editor for digitizing audio
Anyone have a sound projector / audio editor for regular/std. 8mm they would like to get rid of / loan?
I have a couple reels with mag sound on the sprocket side and want to see if I can get it off. Rare to see this....
Thanks fellas!
