SOT: The Martini Shot Podcast

Not sure if this is a great place to put this, but I guess I'll give it a shot for those who may be interested.

I'm Chris, and I've been a part of the Shooting 8mm site for some time now. I don't participate in discussion as much as I'd like to, but I do read the forums regularly.

Anyway, I'm ...

Ugh, you guys will argue about anything.

My two cents...Well it doesn't really matter to me.

I happen to be one of those cheesy wedding, corporate, and low budget commercial videographers. So thanks for totally insulting me and my profession.

I love film. When I make short movies, whether i ...

LOL! Do not trust this site!

Use the info from K itself: http://www.kodak.com/US/plugins/acrobat/en/motion/products/reversal/ti0840.pdf

Or you could read what's printed on the little yellow cardboard box that the cartridge came in...

Doh! I stand corrected. Well, either way, I must ...

K-40 is tungsten balanced, which might explain the light blue tint I expect your film has.

According to this page:

http://www.filmshooting.com/filming/page4.php

k40 is daylight balanced.

There actually is no blue tint. In fact, has a lot of yellow in some of the wedding stuff (mainly because ...

Elmo Super104 question

So a few months ago, I shot some K40 on my Elmo Super 104. I shot exterior, days and sunset, without the 85B filter in (because k40 is daylight balanced, negating the need for the filter...correct?). I shot 18fps on autoexposure.

Unfortunately, the footage (two rolls worth) came out horribly ...

ya know, I had the same problem with my first two rolls of k40, shot on an Elmo Super 104. I shot 1 roll in twilight, the other in bright sunlight. Both were a bit overexposed. The one in bright sunlight was overly yellow too!

Any ideas?

Don't get too used to it. I interviewed for a job at NFL Films back in August, and they were hinting at a changeover to digital.

Well, we can still keep up with the film stuff.

First roll questions

So I got my first two rolls of K40 back from Dwayne's today. I have to say, I'm impressed. I was giggling with glee as I watched the images.

Dwayne's did great processing, even preparing the film with head and tail leaders. The images were clean and free of dirt and hairs for the most part.

The ...

What, are we in 4th grade? you guys are acting like a bunch of babies! Of all the boards I've ever been a part of, i've never seen such immaturity.

Why shouldn't Mattias be flush with joy about making a movie? Shouldn't we all? Isn't that what making movies is all about? What the fuck is everyone ...

Well, I'm in the US. Might not be worth mailing over here. If you can scan it, that would be much easier (and cheaper) for both of us. Does this sound feasible?

whoa, let's not get nasty here. I'm very new to this whole thing. I've never shot anything on film (aside from stills), so i'm trying to figure things out.

Bascially, I want to be able to shoot film, get it processed, and -on the cheap- telecine it myself so I can edit on my Final Cut Pro system ...

Re: Homemade telecine using 24p video cam

I would think that because everything is running at the same speed, the flicker issue would disappear.
the flicker issue disappears with any camera if everything is running at the correct speed. the problem is that projectors generally don't. you'd still need a crystal synced one or one with ...
