That would be great. You may recall from our recent conversation that on clear edge film it's taking a bit of finessing to get the pressure and sensor just right to get a stable transfer. Sounds like this new auto tension would solve half that problem. If you need a beta tester…

Re: Sneak peek at the new RetroScan Universal
Hi Roger,
Wondering if the new tension mechanism would be able to be adapted to existing Retro-16 Pro units?
And, finally, the tension spring common to the all the previous Retro units has been eliminated with an auto tension mechanism that maintains perfect tension all the time without need for ...

Re: Sneak peek at the new RetroScan Universal
We're working on a large project now where every reel is 16mm sound. The basic process is that we run through a sound projector first with the output running to a firewire audio interface into an old Mac Powerbook. We capture 16bit mono, 48k files. We project the film on a small piece of foam core ...

Re: Sneak peek at the new RetroScan Universal
Very nice looking product, Roger.
By any chance would the new tension mechanism be able to be adapted onto the current RetroScan-16? As you may recall from our recent conversations I've had a bit of a struggle trying to get stable transfers from 16mm film with clear edges. I'm finding the tension ...

Re: Workprinter XP to Sniper (Kinda)
[att'm on a Mac and am using Capturemate HD and it doesn't have any settings like that. I think solidifying the overall unit is something that needs to be done. I'm not sure if I should add separate mounting blocks for the projector and camera on the existing board - thinking that vibrations wouldn ...

Re: Workprinter XP to Sniper (Kinda)
Ok, so another update regarding my conversion attempt. After conferring with Ben over at Bensoftware we figured out that I needed to change the frame rate on the Canon from its default 60i to PF30. So that cleaned up the slight blurring problem. I'm ignoring the inability to zoom in close enough ...

Re: Workprinter HD Converted. Camera Questions
Hello All,
I just stumbled upon this thread as I too have recently done the work printer conversion. My setup, which is basically the same camera as the author, doesn't get close enough with R8 film. I was curious to see if you ever came up with a solution.
FWIW, my lens specs are f= 4.1 - 61.5mm ...

Re: Workprinter XP to Sniper (Kinda)
Sorry to keep this old thread alive, but if anyone is still monitoring it maybe you could chime in. So I ended up giving the mod a try. I only have the Workprinter XP, so most of Tom's document didn't really apply. The bottom line is I just swapped out Roger's 1.5" pvc legs for approx 2" pvc legs ...

Re: Workprinter XP to Sniper (Kinda)
Hi There,
Just wondering if you ever heard from Tom/filmmaker8? I sent a question via their website contact form several days ago and never received a reply. Then yesterday I purchased his conversion guide from the website and didn't get any kind of a download link. I sent him a note about that and ...
