london film art lab

I'm an art student at goldsmiths in London. Check out the no.w.here lab (http://www.nowhere-lab.org) for other options (cheap 8mm to 16mm blow ups, b&w processing for 16mm, courses etc.). I'm an intern there from time to time. no.w.here might be interested in hosting such an event - its exactly ...

I guess bowie for me. But 80's dance funk bowie best of all. No-one's really mentioned what a fine album 'the idiot' is though.

By the way whoever mentioned chumbawumba...?

mmm, looks a bit like DangerMouse from the front. which is the highest form of complement I can bestow! I would quite like the film to be silent with really gaudy coloured dialogue cards emblazoned with lightning flashes and stars and stuff.

Brilliant!

yes, that's a brilliant idea! count me in... I think we should have contest to see who can build/adapt/steal the best puppet, and then the winner (obviously) gets the honour of starting the story AND making the title slide. get yer stop frame out..! :D

As I understand it, the way to simulate the ECN-2 negative process for movie film is to use C-41 developer in conjuction with the Bleach and Fix from the E-6 process. I've yet to try it though...

For a couple of quid I picked up a 400ft reel depicting the Twickenham Technology College Marketing students trip to Wuppertal and the surrounding area in about 1975. It was obviously a bit of coursework and the person who'd done it had gone to a lot of effort with the sound effects and the snazzy ...

Quarzchrome

I've tried home developing on a spiral I made myself - mostly following instructions on 'The Lab' page of this site. However, Quarzchrome really isn't worth bothering with. By the time you've bought all the developing chemicals, the cost of the film starts to matter a lot less than the terrible ...

I think the widescreen centre can do it, however, it's much more fun to develop yourself. I made a 50ft wooden spiral to fit 15 litre photographic deep tanks - the chemicals cost loads, but there's some really good instructions around and the results I got from plus-x were really encouraging ...

Cool, thanks. The 250fps sounds quite exciting. I was thinking of ripping out the motor and sticking something a bit more meaty on the side. I haven't decided which camera to sacrifice yet.

Ultra slow motion

I have a feeling a saw a topic on this a while back, but I was wondering... If I were to soup up an old 18fps S8 camera to run at a very high speed, what would I have to take into consideration?

What maximum fps can you physically run a S8 cartridge at?

What modifications would I need to make to ...

cool, thanks very much. I'll try and find a polaroid film that fits. There must be something that'll do - after all the mechanism is very simple. However, I can't get the pickup spool to stop winding on the viewer. You're supposed to be able to pause the thing, but it seems to have gone a bit mental ...

Super 8 to Polaroid

I've found an Agfa Family P editor/viewer in a flea market. It's got an add-on which takes some kind of pack film, for making stills, and I'm quite excited by the prospect of printing some of my reversal film - I previously had to fudge an 8mm mask and print onto Ilfochrome paper which is getting ...

Broken Projector Blues

On the way back from doing a projection at the Notting Hill Arts Club, my Sankyo Dualux 2000H had a nasty altercation with the floor of a London Bus, the result of which is that the rear drive spindle (the pick-up reel end) is now broken in two. I am quite upset about this as I like my projector ...
