Re: Ferrania news?

They've updated their Facebook and Kickstarter pages, but they don't seem to have updated their website yet.

Re: New to film

Erm, why has my post above got a link in it where I have written "white sheep"? I don't recall putting that there? :|

EDIT: Oh, now it doesn't... How odd!

Re: New to film

I've got my film back! Wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. Some areas are a bit to close up because of the lens mix up, but some are fine. Towards the end there are a few bits where I didn't expose it quite enough, all you can see in the black fields are the white sheep.

It's all practice ...

Mountain War Series

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but anyway...

I am looking for films in the Mountain Films 'War Series'. I have 8 of them so far, but I don't know how many more there are. They are in Super 8 format, 400ft, B/W and are silent.

So far I have:

Battle of Britain
Germany Surrenders and ...

Your link didn't seem to work, so I think this one will:

Re: New to film

What options have I got for editing it for projection?

Well... as an amateur in the year 2014 you can choose between "dry" and "wet" splicing. "Wet" means glueing the splices with "film cement" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_cement ), while "dry" means using "tape" (either on a roll like ...

Re: New to film

Well, I've made a bit of a rookie mistake... I've shot my first roll, but for about 44 feet of it, I got the lenses mixed up.

I stupidly thought that the big lense was the 13mm lens and the small lens was the 5.5mm lens, it's the exact opposite. So all of those lovely wide angle shots I took will ...

Re: New to film

The lens and the monopod have arrived finally! Looks like I won't have time to shoot the first film I was planning, but that means I have more film to shoot on the canals.

I'll see about getting my finished film uploaded to here at some point too if it turns out okay, or even if it doesn't so I can ...

Re: New to film

That does look quite nice! It's a little bit wobbly at the sides though?

Re: New to film

Wow, this all sounds complicated! Looks like I'm going to have to do quite a bit of experimentation!

The scenes I was planning to shoot were both indoors and outdoors, but the indoor ones were going to be very well lit as they are right in front of some open shutters in a warehouse. I'm quite ...

Re: New to film

Yeah, he has been very helpful!

That film was the cheapest I could find for me to get started on, I had to base my choice mainly on price as at the time of purchasing I had very little in the way of cashflow and still do really. If you can recommend a better film choice for in the future though, I ...

Re: New to film

I've got a 12.5mm Yvar lens and a 36mm telephoto Yvar lens.

I went to the place I'm going to be shooting my first short film, and the 12.5mm lens seems to be slightly too close up, so I'm going to hopefully get a Pizar 5.5mm wide angle lens. I've found one on eBay, seems to be in decent condition ...

New to film

Hello! I'm new to this forum, and new to film. I have collected various cameras and cine cameras for the past year or so, and have decided to start actually using them. I'll be going on holiday at the end of August, so I'm hoping to make a short film of it!

I'm going to be shooting regular 8mm film ...
